Welcome to the winter season! A time when freezing temperatures can hit unexpectedly. Don’t be caught of guard and make sure you protect your pipes with these simple tips:
- When leaving your home for a long period, leave the heat on in your home, and set the temperature no lower than 55 degrees.
- Open your kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the pipes to keep them from freezing.
- Keep garage doors closed especially if water supply lines are kept in the garage.
In the possibility your pipes do freeze, leave them open and call a qualified plumber. Remember to never use a torch or open flame to try a thaw your pipes or any electrical appliances in standing water. If your water pipes burst, turn the water off at the main shutoff valve.
